Overview
Gleeson Group has one of the largest and most sophisticated
production facilities in Ireland. Primarily on our site in Borrisoleigh,
Co. Tipperary, we produce Bottled Water, Soft Drinks, Freeze Pops
and Cider.
All of our product range is produced in a dedicated, state of the art production facility. The production is tightly controlled under a quality plan, which covers the process from the raw material stage right through production, on to storage. This plan also includes all quality checks, inspection, and tests to be carried out along each relevant stage of the process.
Tipperary Water Specifically:
Tipperary Natural Mineral Water is pumped from a single bore hole of 100 metres depth. The bottling facility is situated directly over the source. The natural filtration resulting from slow permeation through the above rock strata ensures high quality and purity of the water. It is low in mineralisation (280mg/L) and has very low nitrate levels. The borehole is protected by three stainless steel liners and is grouted with concrete to prevent any ingress of surface water.
Tipperary Water is classified as a natural mineral water according to the E.U. directive (80/777/EEC). It was granted E.C. Natural Mineral Water status in 1987. It also meets the requirements of IS 432, the Irish Government Bottled Water Standard. Under the E.U. directive a mineral water must be of exceptional purity at source. The use of chemical treatments or preservatives is not allowed. This Directive and IS 432 standard are strictly enforced by the National Standards Authority of Ireland, the Irish Governmental inspection agency.
Under the directive on Natural Mineral Waters, it is prohibited to chemically treat or sterilise the water in any way. Filtration is allowed to remove sand, which may be pumped up from the aquifer. This filtration must not interfere with the natural chemical and microbial constituents of the water.
