Weihenstephaner
Meaning ‘Sacred Stephen’, Weihenstephan is The World’s Oldest Brewery – dating back to 1040. Weihenstephan is also generally regarded as the World’s finest Weissbier…
Located in the Bavaria city of Freising, near Munich in Germany, Benedictine monks established a community as early as 725 and were growing hops by 768AD. Today, the site is shared with the world’s best-known university faculty of brewing and a yeast library.
In remaining true to the Reinheitsgebot law (or Bavarian purity law) of 1516, only 4 ingredients are used in Weihenstephan – hops, barley, yeast and water.
